Riverside Golf Club is a picturesque course in an area of outstanding natural beauty. It enjoys an idyllic setting, nestling under the Howgill fells in the village of Ravenstonedale. It has been said that it is worth the fee just to walk the course. The course takes the driving out of golf. Riverside is a unique 18 hole, 9 green, small course specialising in par-3 short holes with character 70-140 yard fairways. The course is ideal for first time golfers, young and old, male and female. It is perfect for practising short game and is considered by many local golfers to involve a high degree of difficulty. It offers an hour or two of pleasant golf to members and visitors alike. Set in a beautiful wooded location it is a delight to play. With undulating greens amid beautiful scenery in a peaceful setting surrounded by red squirrels and with local pub food just a pitching wedge away we challenge you to have more fun anywhere for just £3 a round. . The Riverside Golf Club was opened in January 2000. It was the dream of Ravenstonedale local, Bernard Law, who single-handedly created the course and who now maintains it. Bernard has featured in 'The Link', the local parish magazine for Orton, Tebay and Ravenstonedale with Newbiggin-on-Lune. The article is reproduced here.
